Success and What’s Next

Hello Friends,
Chamber Music Society of St. Louis performed its first outdoor concert ever in Clayton’s Shaw Park last Thursday evening. After several frustrating days of postponing due to extreme heat, we ended up with a perfect night for the music. We had an enthusiastic crowd of about 300 who expressed their appreciation for the musicians, conductor Leonard Slatkin and the young man who Leonard invited up to help conduct the encore, a special arrangement of Sousa’s Stars and Stripes Forever. There were a lot of moving parts to pull this off and we are grateful to all those who supported the effort: The City of Clayton, Ariel Premium Supply, Enterprise Bank and Trust, Bond Architects, Classic 107.3 and Steinway Piano Gallery. We also thank the musicians and Maestro Slatkin for their patience and flexibility to navigate all the changes that the weather imposed. If you attended this concert, we would love to hear your thoughts on the event. Feel free to email your comments to us at info@chambermusicstl.org.

The last special event for The Chamber before we start in to the 2021-22 Season in October is AN EVENING WITH LEONARD SLATKIN Monday September 13, 2021. Our collaboration with the St. Louis County Library Foundation offers an opportunity to participate in a discussion with Maestro Leonard Slatkin and John Clare of Classic 107.3. They will be discussing Leonard Slatkin’s latest book Classical Crossroads: The Path Forward for Music in the 21st Century. CMSSL musicians will be there as well to perform.  CLICK HERE FOR INFO.

With best regards,
Marc
