The Lyra Quartet
The Raemonia String Quartet
The Chamber is thrilled to support our Rader Young Artists and their colleagues in the Lyra and Raemonia Quartets on a journey to compete in the final round of the Saint Paul Chamber Music Competition (SPCMC). Advancing in a national competition like SPCMC doesn’t happen without years of training, thousands of individual practice hours, group rehearsals and coaching from professionals. Saint Louis is fortunate to have these two promising young string quartets that will undoubtedly reflect the strong local support they’ve received when they perform on April 12th in Minnesota.
The Rader Young Artist program is designed to support local students in their pursuit of advanced classical music training. Participants are chosen by a professional jury after the fall competition to receive prize money and performance opportunities. Both quartets have been featured on the Prelude segments of CMSSL concerts throughout our season as they’ve prepared repertoire for this event.
Organizing a trip for eight musicians and instruments is never a simple task. The Chamber is providing financial support for hotel rooms along with an anonymous donor who made a contribution to cover meals for the students. Staff members are driving the groups to Saint Paul and handle logistics so that students and parents can focus on the experience itself and not worry about travel.
April 11th is our departure date. Updates will be posted here and on Instagram for those interested in following this exciting event.
