Chamber Music Society of St. Louis is excited to introduce Chamber Academy, a new education initiative designed to support young musicians in the St. Louis area who are eager to learn about this unique genre of classical music.

While many students are introduced to classical music through school or extracurricular orchestras, large ensembles often leave little room for individualized instruction. Chamber music offers a distinctive and enriching alternative: in small groups like string quartets, each musician is responsible for their own part, fostering a greater sense of accountability, confidence, and teamwork. Beyond musical growth, this setting provides a meaningful social experience with peers and the opportunity to build an ongoing relationship with a dedicated coach.

Chamber Academy is designed to be flexible and accessible. Students pursuing serious music study may choose to participate in both after-school orchestra and chamber music, Chamber Academy prioritizes scheduling that fits each student’s availability to make participation manageable.

Admission to the program begins with an application and audition. From there, our artistic administrators create a detailed profile for each student, assessing individual playing level, ensemble experience, and schedule. Based on this profile, students are placed in groups, assigned repertoire, and paired with one or two experienced coaches. Each group meets weekly for two hours after school, with allowances for holidays and school breaks.

In addition, Chamber Academy hosts monthly Saturday morning assemblies, which may feature performances by professional musicians, masterclasses, or other special programming. Students will also participate in two public concerts each season, in February and May, to showcase their progress and ensemble work.

Tuition set at $800 per year—payable in 2 options: annually, or in 4 installment payments of $200.00, due before each of the 4 payments dates:
